Instructions

Download and print your Four in a Row board (a grid of columns and rows).

  • Each player chooses a color or symbol (for example, X’s and O’s, or colored markers).
  • Players take turns marking one empty space on the board each turn.
  • The goal is to be the first to connect four of your marks in a row—vertically, horizontally, or diagonally.
  • If the board fills up with no four-in-a-row, it’s a tie.

Simple, portable, and great for quick rounds of fun!

Variations

Timed Turns

  • Set a timer for each move to keep the game moving quickly.

Team Play

  • Form teams and take turns marking the board — great for family play.

Invisible Planning

  • Each player keeps a small note with their plan (where they hope to connect four) — adds an extra layer of strategy!

Mini Tournament

  • Play best of 3 or 5 rounds — first player/team to win the most games becomes the Four in a Row champ.
