Instructions

Download and print the Super Tic-Tac-Toe board. The board has 9 small Tic-Tac-Toe grids arranged in a larger 3x3 grid.

  • One player is X, the other is O.
  • The first player can play in any square on any small grid.
  • The square you pick determines which small grid your opponent must play in next (example: if you place your mark in the top-right square of a small grid, your opponent must play in the top-right small grid on their next turn).
  • If the required small grid is already won or full, the player can play in any grid.
  • To win a small grid, get three in a row inside it.
  • To win the whole game, win three small grids in a row on the big board!

It’s Tic-Tac-Toe times 9 — full of fun and strategy!

Variations

Timed Moves

  • Use a timer for each move (10–20 seconds). Adds excitement and encourages quick thinking!

Team Play

  • Form teams (parent + child vs. another team). Take turns making moves and discussing strategy.

Color-Coded Play

  • Instead of X’s and O’s, use two different colored markers for your moves.

Theme Play

  • Let kids pick fun symbols or stickers for their marks (stars vs. hearts, cats vs. dogs, etc.).

Tournament Mode

  • Play best out of 3 or 5 games. Keep a score sheet to crown the Super Tic-Tac-Toe champion!
